Set on the edge of the historic district of old Point Reyes Station, Creamery Cottage was built for the foreman of the Point Reyes Creamery in the early years of the 20th century when Point Reyes was world-renowned for its butter. In those days this was a busy spot, just a block from the Creamery and across the street from the narrow-gauge railroad engine house and turntable. Now the only sound at night is the hooting of a resident owl or the rustle of the poplar leaves in the wind.
Wander in our half-acre of old roses, lavender, and California native plants. Pick fruit from our many trees: apples, pears, plums, peaches, cherries, figs, and walnuts. Have a barbecue in the fountain courtyard and eat on our deck with lovely views of Inverness Ridge. This is true country living, surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness in the Point Reyes National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area, yet located right in one of California’s most sophisticated small towns. Stroll over to the center of town (five minutes) to savor the “foody” delights of our famed Farmer’s Market, the Bovine Bakery, Station House Café, and the Cowgirl Creamery. Enjoy world class music and dance at the Dance Palace, or browse in one of the best bookshops in Northern California. This is an ideal place for those who like to balance a wilderness experience with style and comfort. And because we offer significant discounts for stays of longer than a week or month, this is an ideal retreat for artists or writers.
